Whip maintenance

Required Tools & Materials

Vaseline (white petroleum jelly recommended), paper towels, spatula

Basic Care

Single-Tail Whip
For single-tail whips, be sure to maintain the tip (the fluttering part) with Vaseline after every use. Apply it to the main body periodically to keep it moisturized.

※ For safety, be sure to thoroughly wipe off any Vaseline after maintenance, especially from the handle.

Flogger
For floggers, apply Vaseline to the entire leather section, making sure to apply it thoroughly to the base and tips, as these parts move and rub against each other.

New whips—both single-tail and floggers—will absorb a significant amount of Vaseline, so please apply it thoroughly.

Maintenance Steps

1: Take some Vaseline onto your hand.
Use about the size of a muscat grape for new items, or an appropriate amount for items that have been used.

2: Use the spatula to work the Vaseline into the base of the blades.

3: Apply Vaseline to the body as well (about the same amount you would apply to skin).

4: Wipe off the Vaseline.
※ Be sure to wipe the handle section thoroughly.

Notes

While yellow Vaseline can also be used for maintenance, please be aware that it tends to leave yellow stains on the braiding when used on light-colored leather such as white.

Be sure to wipe the main body thoroughly before use (it may slip out of your hand during use if left slippery).
